Located in Himachal Pradesh, Spiti Valley is among the most beautiful places in hills. But, here is a bad news for all avid travellers. Spiti is going to remain shut for tourists this year. This decision came by the Spiti Tourism Society. The Himachal state government opens the state for tourism and activities.
Moreover, Himachal has lifted the condition of carrying an e-pass or registration for tourists visiting the state. Also, permission for the inter state travel is there but buses still remain shut.
A circular by the Spiti Tourism Society says that,
“Spiti Valley is closed for any kind of tourism activity in for this year 2020, specifically till 31st October, 2020. Tourism activity of any kind will not be allowed which includes jeep safaris, package tours, trekking, and camping.”
Also, as per the circular, the decision is in concern with the frowing pandemic. As there are less medical facilities, infrastructure is not proper, and extreme geographical conditions. Moreover, social distancing will be tough in winters. In case of emergency, patients needs to be taken out of the valley. This will further worsen the situation.
This also tells travellers to cancel all travel plans to the Valley this year. In order to make a safe destination next year. According to the circular, no case of COVID-19 is there in the community. Shutting activities is difficult for the community and they hope for understanding and respect ffor the same from travellers.
Also, no comments are there from state government on this yet.
