Missing chilling on cruise? As international travelling is quite unsafe, experience it here in India again! In order to promote tourism in the state, the government of Odisha is planning to commence river cruises. The state has been suffering loss because of COVID-19 outbreak. Now, it has plans to start cruises on select water bodies under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
Asit Tripathy, Chief Secretary of the state said, “River cruising itself is compatible with Covid-19 restrictions. There is a huge scope and latent market for world class river cruising in Odisha. It can also be connected with many eco-spots and refill the economic activities in the sector”.
As per tourism secretary, there are three prime river cruise circuits cam be on the Mahanadi river, Chilika Lake and Dangmala reserve forest. Also, this will include the national waterway-5 from Dhamara to Paradeep.
The largest salt water lake in Asia, Chilika Lake is a must visit place for nature lovers. Also, the lake is in a shape of a pear and has several small islands, fisheries and salt pans. Moreover, there are several ecosystems and places to stay in the region.
The Chilika circuit will connect Chilika with other tourist spots in the state. This will go on for 3 nights and 4 days. Also, the Bhitarkanika circuit can connect spots like Chandbali-Aradi-Dhamara-Khola in Bhitarkanika. This can be a 5 nights and 6 days cruise.
Also, the state will also be taking decisions on river jetties, and bar licenses.
