In the upcoming era of 5G, Reliance Jio is not behind. The company could launch an affordable, 5G-ready Android smartphone in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) later this year. As per online reports, the affordable 5G-ready smartphone is in making in partnership with Google. It might be complete by the second half of 2021. Also, Jio is working on JioBook which is an affordable laptop.
As per sources statement to Economic Times, Reliance is working on a May-June timeline to complete the R&D of the device.
A source familiar with the matter told the publication,
“But a launch will most likely be in the second quarter of FY21. It may coincide with the annual general meeting (AGM), usually held in August-September, when RIL has typically made all its previous announcements regarding its feature phones and fiber, among others.”
As per a report, the phone could have an Android Go (OS) with basic features. Moreover, Reliance is currently making its JioOS. It is a custom version of Google’s Android OS. So, the use of JioOS will give an optimised performance of Jio applications, according to reports.
For the Jio Book, Jio will partner with engineering firm Bluebank Communication Technology of China as per review of documents rby XDA.
