If you want to escape the daily hustle bustle, a hiking trip is a great option. Here is a weekend trek for you and it is not far from Delhi. The trek will give a great view of Himalayan ranges, without investing too much travel time. Hike to the top of Nag Tibba Summit in Uttarakhand and walk through the dense forests and steep ridges.
So, the easiest way to access Nag Tibba summit is to start your trek from Dehradun. You need to reach Panthwari for a night halt, after a 5-hour bus journey from Delhi. After that climb the summit on foot from thereon. The distance from Panthwari to Nag Tibba summit is 8 km. It passes through a colourful lush jungles with rhododendron flowers. On the way, you will cross Khatian village. Here you can take a pitstop to visit the Nag Devta.
A little steep begins from Khatian village. The temperature on the mountain top drops below zero degrees Celsius in winters. Mostly hikers camp at Nag Tibba base. From here it takes approximately one hour to reach the summit. The mountain top gives you panoramic views of the Gharwal range, including clear sightings of the Swargrohini, Bandarpoonch, Kala Nag, Srikanta, and Gangotri summit. Also, the downward climb starts at Nag Tibba Base. It descends via Moriana village to reach Bhatwadi, and finally Panthwari.
