Kerala will soon have the state’s first water taxi operational in Alappuzha by October. As per reports, the State Water Transport Department (SWTD) is ready to launch the taxis.
For start, only four boats will be there that will ferry passengers across the district. The four boats ordered by the government will have diesel engines.
As per Shaji V Nair, director of SWTD says that these boats will be just like road taxis. For getting the service, one just has to give a call on a specific phone number. The boat will pick and drop to the destination. Also, the fare will be on a per-hour basis.
The seating capacity for 10 people. The speed will be of 15 nautical miles per hour. Helping commuters to reach their destinations quicker than usual, he added.
This is going to be interesting and unique. Not only roads, but now taxis will run in water too! These water taxi will come soon if everything goes as per plan.
