New update of Youtube brings gesture controls and more!

YouTube has come up with a new update for its mobile applications. It brings a update to video player page. The update features new navigation gestures.

Video Chapters

YouTube came up with Video Chapters in May this year. It allows you to jump to a specific section of a video. The feature makes it easier for longer videos or videos that have template sections. You can find it by tapping or clicking the chapter title in the player. The list will feature all chapters in the video along with a thumbnail for easier understanding.

Live captions might not be accurate most of the time. YouTube has made a shift button to a better location that can be easily spotted. Also, there is shift in autoplay toggle to make it easier to turn it on or off. Also, the revamped autoplay toggle will soon come to the Desktop. The objective is to make it easier and quicker to navigate through the player page.

YouTube adds features to suit the new form factor. For example, now you can simply swipe to enter full screen and down to exit. One can tap the timestamp to switch back and forth in order to check remaining time in a video.

YouTube is making easier for users with VR headsets. It will show you actions such as when to rotate the phone. Other new features are the bedtime reminders, a digital wellbeing tool that allows you to set reminders at specific times to discontinue watching videos.
