One of the prominent Shakti Peethas in the country, Kamakhya temple is open again. Devotees will only perform parikrama. The Devalaya Management Committee of the temple made the decision to open the complex gates to parikrama.
As per a statement on Saturday, states that every devotee will get 15 minutes to perform the ritual. This is in order to maintain social distancing. For now, the main doors of the temple that lead to the sanctum sanctorum will remain shut.
As per the spokesperson from the temple management committee,
“The inner sanctum sanctorum will remain closed. This has been done as per discussion with the district administration. The devotees and others will have to follow Covid guidelines issued by the government in order to prevent the spread of the virus.”
On normal days, the complex gate will remain open from 8 AM till sunset. The timings might change during Navratri and Durga Puja festival.
Also, devotees will have to go under a rapid antigen test. This will be at the medical camp by the health department near the entry point at Nursery. Negative ones can come only after showing their reports.
Also, the security persons will see the reports of every devotee before proceeding. There will be issuing of entry card from Annakshetra office set right in front of Chinnamasta/Kameswar Mandir. Then the devotees will have to undergo thermal screening and sanitation at the main gate.
The temple is close March 20 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
