Google Duo Brings New ‘Family Mode’ Feature, Will Add More Soon

All video conferencing apps are coming up with some or the other new feature. Recently,  Google Duo has introduced the family mode. Along with this, there are other features too.

The family mode makes interaction with friends and family more informal.

Also, it comes along with AR features where filters can be used.

There is a doodle option while the conversating. Also, there are filters that allows users to virtually dress up with masks. These are also available for one-on-one users.

It has Mother’s Day effects too.

The feature is available for both iPhone and Android users. It is end to end encrypted, according to the blog.

“Although the physical separation has been hard for all of us, Google Duo makes it easier to let family know how much we miss them, show off our latest artwork and just act silly together like we would in person,”.

To avoid accidental hang ups, the interface hides the mute and hang up buttons.

Last month, the app increased its limit for users to 12.

Jane Manchun Wong , an reverse enginering expert posted an image on Twitter. The image showed Duo’s feature “Reachable with an email address” toggle on the Google Duo app.

Google has confirmed that it is in fact, testing the feature with Google Duo. Now, only email ids can be used to make video calls. It will be out in the coming weeks.

A report by 9to5Google stated , Google allowed the use of Duo without linking the phone numbers. You can make calls but if one does not have a GSuite account, but receiving calls is entirely not possible.

“To make getting together easier, you’ll also be able to invite anyone with a Google account to join a group call with just a link,” Google said in a blog post.

Group calls will be made available on Google Duo on the web. This will be first made available for Chrome users.
