Destination North East, an initiative to promote tourism in North East

The Union Home Minister Amit Shah made an announcement on northeast tourism on the occassion of World Tourism Day. He did the inauguration of Destination North East 2020. In this, there will be showcase of the region’s culture, tourism, and heritage. The North East is capable can become the centre of world tourism.

So, the inauguration was via video conferencing. This was attended by the Chief Ministers of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland, and Sikkim. Also, Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister for development of north east region.

As per Mr. Amit Shah, he has not come across a place as beautiful and full of natural beauty as the North East states. Also, he noted, the people of the North East have preserved and promoted their rich culture and heritage. Apart from challenges, their culture and traditions are still there.

Destination North East will showcase the celebration of the six sister states. The theme for current year is the Emerging Delightful Destinations. 

Also, each state has its own subcultures. For example, the Hornbill Festival of Nagaland, the Sangai Festival of Manipur are popular and with this, they will be more famous.

So, this initiative will surely increase tourism in the north eastern states.
