The most important commuting transport Delhi Metro, is on a break since last 4 months. It might resume soon. To ensure safety of all, the transport authorities are opting for contactless services.
To begin again following all norms, Delhi Metro is up with a new smart card for its passengers. This will enable contactless travel.
Steps to Use The Delhi Metro New smart card?
On August 19, the DMRC has launched new smart cards. These cards have auto top-up facility. To avail, one needs to download the AutoPe app.
After that, you need to link your payment options such as credit cards/bank accounts/UPI accounts on the app. Earlier on low reacharge you used to get the top up done. But now, when the value of the smart card drops below ₹100, it will get automatically recharged with ₹200 at Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) entry gates. The amount will be automatically deducted from the linked account. Also, there will be a nominal convenience fee for every transaction.
Currently, online recharges require validation at add value machines. This requires long queues. With new card, this will no longer persist. Passengers can also upgrade to this auto top up facility using their old Delhi Metro travel cards. Autope also provides other facilities like home delivery of cards, and customisation facility.
