COVID-19 cases in India reach 2 lakh-mark, Ranks 7th in World

The total number of COVID-19 cases in India has reached 1,98,706. There were 8,171 new infections in the past 24 hours.

Also, the coronavirus death toll in India is 5,598. The active cases are 97,581 and  95,526 are cured or discharged cases, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Maharashtra is the most-affected state. It has over 70,000 Covid cases. Also, a total of 2,362 people has died in Maharashtra till now.

The second most affected is Tamil Nadu. It has 23,495 coronavirus cases and 184 deaths. After that comes Delhi on the third number. It has 20,834 coronavirus cases followed by Gujarat.

Since the last few days, India has is seeing spike over 8,000 Covid cases every day. The total tally to nearly 2 lakh.

The fifth phase of lockdown is Unlock 1.0. Many restrictions have been lifted up.

Also, Maharashtra has come up with a new plan of ‘Begin Again’. This is done to ease the lockdown and revive the economy.

World rank of India in COVID cases

In the last 24 hours, India had 204 deaths. It is on the seventh spot on the world rankings of the number of coronavirus cases.

Currently, United States is leading the charts on the Johns Hopkins University tracker of coronavirus cases in the world. Also, India has US, Brazil, Russia, United Kingdom, Spain and Italy ahead with more coronavirus cases and deaths.

The global cases have crossed 62,66,000 while the death toll is over 3,75,000.
