Nainital is opening its boat rides for tourists. Now you can enjoy boating at the Naini lake in Nainital from September 1. Boating is one of the top leisure activity by tourists in the lake. Due to pandemic, the government of Uttarakhand had put a stop on the boat rides since March.
A meeting was there between officials of Nainital municipality and a boat operators committee on August 24, as per reports. The decision to resume the rides was taken in meeting. The CEO of Nainital municipality Ashok Kumar, told the press that the boat operators have decided to restart boat rides. Also, this is in the account the arrival of tourists in town.
As per the officials of the municipality, 222 rowing boats and around 60 pedal boats operate in the lake through. So, around 300 boatmen earn their daily bread by this. Moreover, the sanitising of the boats and following other guidelines is also mandatory for the operators.
Nainital is among the most visited places. Also, there is the famous Naina Devi Temple next to the lake. The temple is in connection to Lord Shiva and his wife Sati.
