Paragliding is one of the most important tourist activities in Himachal Pradesh.This was stopped due to the lockdown implemention in India in March.
So, the state gave permission to restart the paragliding in the first week of July. But due to rise in cases and ban on flight, it did not resume. As per latest reports, the state government is going to permit every kind of paragliding from September 15. This will be a great relief and give a push to tourism in Kangra valley.
Alao, uncertainty is still there about organising the International Paragliding World Cup Championship 2020. It is at Billing in October. Only 1.5 months to go for the event but no preparations are in progress.
The championship is at Billing every year in October. Also, Bir Billing is in top 10 paragliding locations in the world. Due to its altitude, required currents, and green surroundings in the Himalayas, it stands at top.
Also, Bir is a hub for eco-tourism, spiritual studies, meditation. Moreover, it is a Tibetan refugee settlement and has Buddhist monasteries and a large stupa.
