The latest predictions of Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s are here and the iPhone maker’s are going for mini LED devices. These are the mini LED Macbook. Kuo expects Apple to pace up the transition to mini LED devices. This will be with shipment of 10 to 12 million units in 2021.
There has been an increase in the number of mini LED units by Kuo that Apple is expected to ship in 2021 and the following year. As per 9to5Mac reports, there has been a statement that 2 to 3 million units in 2021, and between 4 and 5 million for 2022. According to Kuo, there are two things that made this increase. One is on the cost improvement that will be better in the next two years. The other is on the adoption rate of mini LED panels for MacBooks will be better than expectation.
Also, Kuo previously said that Apple will launch Macs with an all-new form factor design in 2021. The lineup might include two redesigned MacBook Pros. And that too with mini LED panels. Moreover, there is also a MacBook Air with a mini LED panel. It has plans for 2022. As per Kuo says this MacBook Air will be a “more affordable” one.
Kuo mentions that the new MacBooks will be the biggest driver of mini LED panel shipments. This will increase MacBook shipments by around 100% to 30-35 million units per year. This will be within a period of three years.
So, Apple has plans to introduce mini LED iPads. These will be the first to launch next year. You can expect the first mini LED devices from Apple Q1 2021.
