Apple is said to launch four new iPhones 12 models this year. As per reports, only one of them is going to support the fastest 5G connection. Only the 6.7-inch Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max model will support the 5G.
The four models include a 5.4-inch iPhone 12, a 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max. Also, a 6.1-inch and a 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro and a 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max. The name are not yet confirmed and could change anytime.
Citing a source from the wireless industry, the Fast Company states about the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max model. Only this has enough physical space for the mmWave 5G hardware. Also, it is the only smartphone in the series with a large enough battery to support faster connectivity.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max models are going to ship in the US, Korea and Japan will support the mmWave 5G.
As 9to5Mac mentions that carriers across the globe are rolling out sub-6GHz and mmWave networks in different deployments. The mmWave is the 5G that has more “impressive speeds, potentially exceeding 1 gigabit”.
So, comparing to this, the sub-6GHz 5G networks in the US have speeds of 100-150 Mbps. These are faster than LTE. But are far less powerful than the mmWave 5G.
As per the the Fast Company report , Apple could also launch a cheaper 4G iPhone in the iPhone 12 line. It might be by next spring. Also, it will be a higher version of iPhone SE. This can be the iPhone SE Plus model.
