The flights resumed from Monday after 2 months. One passenger on Air India Delhi-Ludhiana flight on Tuesday has tested positive for coronavirus. Air India said that 36 passengers on the flight along with 4 crew members have been put in institutional quarantine.
According to Air India, “The passenger who works in the security department of Alliance Air was traveling on a paid ticket. 36 passengers and 4 crew under institutional quarantine as per Punjab government rules.”
The passenger flew on AI 9I837 Delhi-Ludhiana flight on the second day of flight operations in India in the lockdown.
Earlier, an Indigo flight passenger from Chennai to Coimbatore, also tested positive. Indigo has grounded the entire crew of the flight for 14 days.
Also, The passenger is in quarantine at ESI state medical facility at Coimbatore.
More than 39,000 passengers flew on the first day of flight operations across states. On second day, some 42,000 passengers flew.
Airlines also began operating from Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. Also, flights from West Bengal will begin from Thursday.
Officials said several of the flights operated on Monday were half empty.
The cases in India has reached around 1.5 lakhs. Around 6,387 new cases have come up in 24 hours. The death toll is 170 in last 24 hours.
